It’s that time of year again. Champagne bottles have been popped, balls have dropped, and now your friends, family and colleagues are starting to ask, “What’s your New Year’s resolution?” It might sound delusional, but it’s quite handy to be able to let go of failures and try again. After all, you can’t accomplish anything if you don’t attempt it.
Most of my goals this year revolve around the continued growth of my business but with COVID persisting and not wanting to be in a gym, we have gotten really lazy over the past two years with regard to working out. Today’s temperature in Missoula is a perfect example of why I’m not out taking a walk, but we decided if we can’t go to the gym, we would set up our own home gym this year. It’s not complete yet and I can’t wait for Shane to put up the pilates wall, but for the past week or so I have been consistent about pulling on my snow boots and trekking across the drive to Shane’s workshop and spending time on the Hydrow.
While the landscape around me is covered in snow the screen in front of me is a beautiful river and the sound of the water being moved with my rowing motions reminds me of spring and summer to come and time on the water with Shane fly fishing. It’s the perfect motivator. Hopefully strengthening my upper body and core will enable me to better oar our Flycraft this coming fly fishing season.
Wishing all of you the best in your quest to stick to your New Years Resolutions!
